Aware of Autumn Changes

changes creative kids fall fall colors Sep 28, 2023

By Carol Woolum Roberts

Each morning this week Paul and I have been traveling to Mullan, Idaho to work with students at Mullan Elementary. I have been watching the trees along Interstate 90 as we traveled back and forth this week and notice the change in the foliage.

The leaves along the highway are turning golden, red, orange and yellow. It looks beautiful interspersed with the green pine trees on the hillside.

I have been amazed at the change on the hillside in just four days.

The leaves aren’t the only thing changing. Autumn has brought changes for me, too.

Shorter days bring about more time inside the house.  Neglected home projects are being tended to as more time is spent inside.

Awareness of how I spend my time, or should I say, how I want to spend my time is changing.

More time creating with students has also happened.  Our afterschool classes have begun, and we enjoy our time reconnecting with our students, and look forward to an autumn season of creativity.

We have met a whole school full of creative students this week as Paul and I have been working at Mullan Elementary as the Artists in Residence, helping the students learn about performing.

Creativity at the theater has happened as we continue with play rehearsals.  And meeting new creative people who are part of the cast.

Change can often be hard.  This autumn season, I look at change as very good.
