Celebrate Everything

“Celebrate everything.”

I am blessed to have a mom that spends regular time each week, if not each day, in “morning devotions.”  That’s a nice Christianese term for what Carol and I might call Sowing Seeds Plus. For mom, it is a time of reading, writing, and prayer. Then she often takes some time during our weekly Sunday afternoon phone calls to share with me what she has heard during the last week from her time with her Creator.

“Celebrate everything.”

I believe she heard this phrase during her special Sunday devotional time with family and friends, in a community they refer to as “microchurch.” She hears from her Creator there through the words the community sings, and from the things shared by members of the group based on their own time with the Creator during the week.

“Celebrate everything.”

Those two words spoke to Mom this week, so she shared them with me. Planted, like seeds in a garden. A very small mustard seed of an idea, passed along from one person to another, to another, to another, to another…

Most of the time, we aren’t called on by the Creator to do anything grandiose or heroic. Just take some time and ponder what it means when Scripture says “in everything, give thanks”. I feel the same way about “celebrate everything.”

Can you help me “celebrate everything” by sharing what this phrase means to you? I’d love to hear how others feel about this idea.
