September Light

#growmeastory poem about light poetry reflections september Sep 07, 2022

 By Carol Woolum Roberts

There is something different about the light of September.

The angle of the sun as it rises over the ridge makes it bright and harsh on my morning walk.

The sky is clear and blue without a cloud in the sky.

Morning harshness transforms as light mellows the day.

The September light brings golden calm and peace.

Smoke from a nearby forest fire makes the sky hazy.

The September light is also a source of nourishment.

Each day the light contributes to the ripening of tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, squash, beets, greens.

The multi-colored flowers around the gardens burst in reds, oranges, purples, yellows, pinks.

My soul feels lighter this September.

My heart anticipates connecting with people near and far this month.

My spirit is light-nourished like the plants in my garden by reconnecting with others.
