Sparks of Creativity

This week I have been aware of many sparks of creativity.

Those sparks, those tiny flashes of creativity that cause a person to pause, then their eyes light up, because of something they figured out, they learned, or they tried.

Kindergartners learning the words to a song, and singing it as loud as they can, and smiling the whole time.

A first grader coming confidently to the stage and proudly saying the line, “Welcome to the train station”.

Second and third graders asking if they can wear cowboy hats for their show about the early mining days of the Silver Valley.

Fourth and fifth graders creating a slide show all on their own.  I only provided the words and the photos.  They designed the rest.

A group of adults coming together to "make their own kind of music, and sing their own kind of song."

Students painting rainbows.

A young boy creating the character of “Bill the Burro”.

An aspiring musical theater actor singing and dancing to some Broadway musical tunes.

Listening to Paul’s guitar student learn a new song.

Hearing Paul tell the story of teaching one student how to change ukulele chords, and the student's surprise at how he could play certain chords.

Students becoming Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tin Man and the Cowardly Lion.

Discussing with Paul the novel he is writing, and asking him some questions that really helped him develop a part of the story.

Teachers being amazed at how engaged certain students are in their classrooms when they see them singing and acting.

Young artists at work creating a backdrop for our production.

How can you not be energized by these sparks?
