“There's always that one bench with a great view. Where you can sit, think and plan your tomorrow. And when your tomorrow arrives, you come back to add memories to your memories.

Today I wanted to share about a creative project I did around Christmas.

Last summer a friend, Mike Domy, approached Paul about selling some of his homemade gardening benches at the local markets.  After looking at these wonderful benches, I decided to buy them myself and personalize them, and make some gifts for friends and family.

This was a fun project to do some painting and Mod Podge and with Paul staining the benches and sealing up the benches.  It was a joint effort.

My first bench was for my mother-in-law Pat.  She received this gift for Christmas.  This bench had three of my favorite flowers: Sunflowers, Lavender and Black-Eyed Susan vine.

Next, I painted a bench for my friend Brenda.  I asked her what her favorite was, and she told me Daisy.  So she got a bench of painted Daisies.

The third bench was for my daughter Zoe, who also loves to garden.  Her bench had Daisies, Sunflowers and Lavender.

The fourth bench went to my sister Christy for her birthday.  She is focusing on “Comfort and Joy” this year, and that was the focus of the bench.  She had some of her favorite illustrations by Mary Engelbreit, and some Bells of Ireland on the side, and the word “comfort and joy” on the bench’s seat.

Will I create any more benches?

Only time will tell.
